Hello Friends
Some may remember that Disney remade the movie Aladdin and it came out last year in May. Well my husband and I went to go see it in theaters, as we watched it there was a scene when Jafar orders the guards to take Jasmine away and she sings, "Speechless." I remember sitting there in the theater and that song spoke to me on how God has not called us to be silent. That being said we are not to be defiant either. Now you might think I am contradicting myself, but please continue reading and we will dive deep for clearer understanding.
Now in today's world there are a great many things going on good and bad. Before we jump in and start speaking out let's examine ourselves and ask God what His will is.
Let's go to Romans 13:1-7 New King James Version
1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will[a]bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
I know this not what most of us want to hear but it is God's word.
Now Let's move on to Acts 4: 19-20
And Acts 5: 27-29
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
In theses two Scriptures we read about the Apostles defining the leaders orders to not preach about Jesus. On the other hand we do not see the Apostles fighting the leaders about the punishment they received because of their defiance.
1 Peter 2: 13-17
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every[c]ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme,14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for[d]vice, but as bond servants of God. 17 Honor all people.Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Here is my understanding and view of these few Scriptures. We are to respect authority, those who God has placed in those positions. That being said we can respectfully speak out and stand against the things that go against God and His laws, but in doing so we also must except the consequences that come with those actions, like Jesus and the Apostles did.
God never told us that live for Him and by Jesus examples was going to be easy or free from hardships. We are told that when we live from God we will be persecuted.
2 Timothy 3: 12
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
God has equipped us with everything we need and He is there to take us through, but first we must we willing to except Him and take His hand. We are not to be speechless we are called to share and speak God's love and truth to everyone. We are to be respectful of all people, even when speaking out when things are against God and His laws. We are to love one another as Christ loves! Instead of looking at and for each others faults and short comings, lets put our God glasses and see with perfect 20-20 vision!
God's loves you and has great plans for you!! Ask Him today to come into your heart and eyes so you can see, speak, and hear Him and that other will see Him in you!! God bless you in Jesus precious Name. Amen
