"My Story….Meet Shawn Patterson Hello Brothers and Sisters! My name is Shawn Patterson. I am an 8-year U.S. Army veteran with three tours overseas, one to Afghanistan and two to Iraq. I am also a grateful and faithful believer in Jesus Christ. I am currently in recovery for anger, anxiety, depression, control and alcohol. I also struggled with my sense of purpose. If those symptoms sound familiar, you know what I am talking about. Most importantly I have given my heart completely over to the care of God and now I am living for Jesus! Six years ago, God showed me Isaiah 61:1-3. So, I thought, “you want me to be a preacher”? I knew in my heart I wanted to work with veterans. I have been affiliated with other veteran suicide “awareness” organizations that just felt like it was putting a band-aid on what I was going through. After 6 years, and also losing visitation rights with my daughters, God once again spoke to me. I felt like I needed to do more. There are a staggering 22 veterans who take their lives each day. It wasn’t until I completely surrendered my heart to God, that I had a revelation of starting a faith-based support group called “The 22 Redeemed”. I now have a purpose and this is my calling that God has put before me, to guide other veterans suffering from PTSD to start a relationship with Jesus Christ. You can have a better life! All He asks is that you seek Him. Ephesians 1:7 says “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” In John 3:16, I challenge you to replace “the World” with your name. That is your foundation in your walk with Jesus Christ. Everyone wants to blame God for their issues they may be facing today, but keep reading. John 3:17 says “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
