Are you a good multitask-er? I used to think that I was a great multitask-er, even when I was told multitasking really is not a real! WHAT!!! Now I admit that when people told me this several times, I was like whatever I multitask all the time!!
Well how many of you can relate to this scenario? You are in bathroom prepare for going out with family, friends, or co-workers. You are freshening up but also thinking about the kids, working, all things needing done around the house, etc. Now you are heading out to enjoy this time out. While out you realize you missed a spot when shaving, you start to fret about if anyone will notice.
What does this have to do with multitasking you may ask. Well you were so busy thinking and worrying about all the other things that you did not focus on shaving. We must be intentional in every area of our lives, our thinking and actions. Scripture warns us that we can not serve two masters.....
Matthew 6:24 Amplified
"No one can serve two master; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You can not serve God and mammon."
We are not able to devote proper attention to the task at hand if we are constantly thinking about everyone and everything else. I honestly did not realize this till last week. I am reading a book by Dr, Caroline Leaf, "Switch On Your Brain." The title of chapter 6 is, " Stop Milkshake - Multitasking," and the main Scripture is,....
Proverbs 4: 20-22 The Message
"Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body, soul, they're bursting with health. Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that's where life starts."
I realized while reading this chapter, that when we learn to be truly focus in our minds and thoughts we become focused on listening to God and following His will. In doing so He teaches us how to be focused in our everyday life. Learning to slow done and focus is not easy, we live in such a fast pasted world and constantly busy. But by choosing to focus intently on the task at hand makes a huge difference. Honestly I applied this while shaving and it worked, I normally miss at least one spot, but when I intently focused on the task the end result was better. With God as our guiding light we can slow down focus and still do all He plans!!!
God bless!!!!
