What Aren't You Saying?

Awhile back I was listening to 1 Samuel 3, (Blue Letter Bible App) when God was calling Samuel in his sleep. When Eli realized that it was God calling Samuel he instructed him how to reply and to listen to what God had to say. After answering the call(from God) God explain to Samuel what was going to come about, in regards to Eli and his sons. After hearing God's words Samuel was afraid to tell his mentor Eli, but Eli warned Samuel not to withhold the things God had spoken. Samuel then told all of what God had spoken to Eli.

1 Samuel 3:19 NKJV

"So Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground..."

How often do we hold back what God is speaking to us out of fear? Samuel knew it was God talking to him and so did Eli. Eli was Samuel's teacher/mentor and guided him to follow and trust in God, and speak out even when it was difficult. Everything we say and do should be said and done with love. When we are unsure it is good to seek counsel from a mentor or leader in whom we trust to speak truth, love, encouragement, and correction when needed.
