You Are Not Selfish!

Good day family and friends!!

Have you ever felt selfish or been told you are selfish for taking time for yourself? I have and I have also thought of myself as selfish for wanting to take time for God, myself, time with my husband, family, or friends. I am learning that this is ok, Jesus would go away from the Apostles and the crowds when He needed too! Matthew 14:23, Luke 4:42, & Luke 5:16 are just a few examples. If we are weary and worn out we can't effectively help others. Doing things for yourself is healthy because in doing so you are an example to others. Matthew 22: 37-39 NKJV, "Jesus said to him,

"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as your self.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

We see here that in order to love others first we must love God, then love ourselves, in order to love others.

Ephesians 5:59 The Passion Translation

"No one abuses his own body, but pampers it-serving and satisfying its needs. That's exactly what Christ does for His church!"

We serve our needs (not necessarily wants, there is a difference), to better serve the needs of the body of Christ!!
